Extreme Trail Rules

 
 





     1.   Events:    Arena Trail with obstacles
                              Extreme Trail Ride with obstacles

 

     2.   Divisions:

·         Beginners – In first or second year of trail riding – easy course

·         Juniors – 18 & under – full course, untimed with comfortable time limit

·         Senior –  Over 18 – full course, untimed with comfortable time limit

·         Open – Advanced riders – timed

 

    3.   Arena Trail:

·         6 -10 obstacles will include one of the following;

o       Gate

o       Jacket on hook

o       Mailbox

o       Bridge

o       Boxes and chutes

o       Cones

o       Blue tarp

o       Ball on cone

o       Trailer

o       What ever we think up!

 

·         Each obstacle will have a maximum of 5 points to be awarded by the judge.

·         Judging will be based on the rider’s skill, control, and horse’s willingness.

·         3 refusals constitutes 0 points for that obstacle.

 

 

   4.  Extreme Trail Ride:

 

·         Approximately a 2 mile ride through woods and fields

·         6-10 obstacles – natural and man made

o       log jumps

o       water crossings

o       ditches

o       steep hills

o       bridge

o       banks

o       steps

 

·         All riders start with 80 points

o       each refusal = 2 points

o       max of 3 refusals per obstacle, -10 if obstacle is skipped (max of -10 per obstacle)

o       Open riders are timed and points awarded based on times

o       All riders continue through whole course even after DQ on any obstacle



   5.  How Winners are Determined:

          The primary factor is your total combined score.  In the event of a tie in the Beginners/Juniors/Seniors divisions, the highest score in the Open Trail Section will determine the winner.  If there is still a tie, the head judge will determine the winner.  In the Open division, the lowest time on the Open Trail Section will be used to break any ties.  This means that in the Open Division, a clean run is more important then a fast run, but with good riders entered, there will probably be at least a few perfect scores, in which case, time will be a factor.

           
        

These general rules apply to all shows held at Snapper Creek Stables

* All junior riders must wear ASTM standard, SEI certified helmets, or hard hats and boots when mounted.

* All horses must have an negative Coggins test within one year of the date of the show.

* Good Sportsmanship is expected from all riders and spectators.  Any unsportsmanlike conduct may 
   result in disqualification and possible ejection from the grounds.

* Please call in the event of rain for delays and cancellations.

* Upon entering the grounds, it is agreed that Snapper Creek and its agents, servants and/or
   employees are not responsible for any loss, damage, or injury to any person, animal, or property
   while on our premises.  All competitors, and any other persons, ride at their own risk.  All spectators enter at their own risk.

* All questions not covered by the rules will be interpreted by the show management.

* Decisions of the Judge and Management are final.

* Classes must have at least one entry to run.  Classes may be combined.

* No running in/out of the gate will be allowed.

* Snapper Creek Stables shows are recognized by the Garden State Quarter Horse Association and the American Paint Horse Association.
